把 bǎ

prep. ▸ used before the Object that receives an action in “把 Sentences”

EXAMPLE SENTENCES

  • Néng bǎ nǐ de shǒujī gěi wǒ yòng yíxià ma?
    能把你的手机给我用一下吗?
    Can “ba” your cellphone give me use one “xia” -ma?
    Can you let me use your cellphone for a moment?
  • Wǒ bǎ nǐ de diànhuà hàomǎ gàosu tā le.
    我把你的电话号码告诉他了。
    I “ba” your phone number tell him -le.
    I told him your phone number.

会不会 huì bu huì

will (or) not will

EXAMPLE SENTENCES

  • Fēijī huì bu huì wǎndiǎn?
    飞机会不会晚点?
    Plane will-not-will late-o’clock?
    Will the plane be late or not?
  • Tā huì bu huì wàngjì wǒ?
    她会不会忘记我?
    She will-not-will forget me?
    Will she forget me or not?

爱好 àihào

EXAMPLE SENTENCES

  • Wǒ de àihào shì dǎ májiàng, nǐ de àihào shì shénme?
    我的爱好是打麻将,你的爱好是什么?
    My hobby is play Mahjong, your hobby is what?
    My hobby is playing Mahjong. What is your hobby?
  • Tā zài zìjǐ de àihào shang huā le hěn duō shíjiān hé qián.
    他在自己的爱好上花了很多时间和钱。
    He “zai” self -de- hobby aspect spend -le very much time and money.
    He spent a lot of time and money on his hobby.

  • Hé nǐ liáotiān zhēn yǒu yìsi!
    和你聊天真有意思!
    With you chat really interesting!
    Talking with you is really fun!
  • Zhège xiǎngfǎ búcuò, hěn yǒu yìsi!
    这个想法不错,很有意思!
    This “ge” idea not-bad, very interesting!
    This idea is pretty good and really interesting!

太 tài

adv. ▸ too; overly; excessively

EXAMPLE SENTENCES

  • Zhè bēi kāfēi tài kǔ le.
    这杯咖啡太苦了。
    This “cup” coffee too bitter -le.
    This cup of coffee is too bitter.
  • Nǐ kāi de tài kuài le, màn yìdiǎn!
    你开得太快了,慢一点!
    You drive -de- too fast -le, slow one “dian”!
    You are driving too fast. Slow down a bit!

真 zhēn

    你今天真漂亮!

  • Wǒmen yǒu hěn duō xuǎnzé. Bǐrúshuō ne?
    我们有很多选择。比如说呢?
    We have very many choices. For-example -ne?
    We have a lot of choices. Like what, for example?
  • Wǒ hěn xǐhuan yùndòng, bǐrúshuō pǎobù hé yóuyǒng.
    我很喜欢运动,比如说跑步和游泳。
    I very like sports, for-example run and swim.
    I really like sports, for example running and swimming.

停 tíng

v. ▸ to stop

EXAMPLE SENTENCES

  • Yǔ zhōngyú tíng le.
    雨终于停了。
    Rain finally stop -le.
    The rain finally stopped.
  • Shīfu, jiù zài zhèlǐ tíng chē ba!
    师傅,就在这里停车吧!
    “Shifu”, just at here stop vehicle -ba!
    Driver, please stop right here.

    I learned a new word again.

有时候 yǒushíhou

EXAMPLE SENTENCES

  • Nàlǐ de tiānqì, yǒushíhou lěng, yǒushíhou rè.
    那里的天气,有时候冷,有时候热。
    There -de- weather, sometimes cold, sometimes hot.
    The weather there is sometimes cold and sometimes hot.
  • Tā yǒushíhou bù jiē diànhuà.
    他有时候不接电话。
    He sometimes not answer calls.
    Sometimes he does not answer the phone.

舒服 shūfu

adj. ▸ to feel relaxed physically or mentally; comfortable

EXAMPLE SENTENCES

  • Jīntiān tiānqì hěn shūfu, bù lěng yě bú rè.
    今天天气很舒服,不冷也不热。
    Today weather very comfortable, not cold also not hot.
    The weather today is very comfortable. It is not cold and not hot either.
  • Wǒ shēntǐ bù shūfu, jīntiān xiǎng xiūxi yíxià.
    我身体不舒服,今天想休息一下。
    My body not comfortable, today want to rest one “xia”.
    I do not feel well. I want to rest a bit today.

EXAMPLE SENTENCES

  • Zhè yí kè wán le.
    这一课完了。
    This one lesson end -le.
    This lesson is over.
  • Zhè chǎng bǐsài kuài wán le ba?
    这场比赛快完了吧?
    This “chang” competition almost end -le -ba?
    This match is almost over, right?

草 cǎo

n. ▸ grass

EXAMPLE SENTENCES

  • Cǎo shì lǜsè de.
    草是绿色的。
    Grass is green-color -de.
    Grass is green.
  • Yuànzi lǐ de cǎo dōu huáng le.
    院子里的草都黄了。
    Yard-inside -de- grass all yellow -le.
    The grass in the yard has all turned yellow.

商场 shāngchǎng

EXAMPLE SENTENCES

  • Wǒmen zhè zhōumò qù guàng shāngchǎng ba!
    我们这周末去逛商场吧!
    We this weekend go stroll shopping-mall -ba!
    Let us go to the mall this weekend!
  • Zhè jiā shāngchǎng zhōumò yǒu cùxiāo.
    这家商场周末有促销。
    This “jia” mall weekend have promotion.
    This mall has a promotion on the weekend.

一直 yìzhí

adv. ▸ always; all the time; for the whole time [indicating an action or an event does not change once it starts]

EXAMPLE SENTENCES

  • Nǐ jīntiān yìzhí hěn máng ma?
    你今天一直很忙吗?
    You today for-the-whole-time very busy -ma?
    Have you been busy all day today?
  • Wǒmen yìzhí zài děng nǐ.
    我们一直在等你。
    We for-the-whole-time “zai” wait you.
    We have been waiting for you the whole time.

酒 jiǔ

n. ▸ alcohol

EXAMPLE SENTENCES

  • Nǐ xǐhuan hē shénme jiǔ?
    你喜欢喝什么酒?
    You like drink what alcohol?
    What kind of alcohol do you like drinking?
  • Jiǔ hē tài duō le shāng shēntǐ.
    酒喝太多了伤身体。
    Alcohol drink too much -le harm body.
    Drinking too much alcohol is bad for your health.

生日 shēngrì

n. ▸ birthday

EXAMPLE SENTENCES

  • Jīntiān shì nǐ de shēngrì?
    今天是你的生日?
    Today is your birthday?
    Is today your birthday?
  • Wǒ méiyǒu guò shēngrì de xíguàn.
    我没有过生日的习惯。
    I not celebrate birthday -de- habit.
    I do not have the habit of celebrating birthdays.

聊天 liáotiān

v. / v. phr. ▸ to chat; to have a casual talk or conversation

EXAMPLE SENTENCES

  • Yǒu kòng ma? Wǒ xiǎng hé nǐ liáoliao tiān.
    有空吗?我想和你聊聊天。
    Have free-time -ma? I want to with you chat-chat.
    Are you free? I want to chat with you for a bit.
  • Wǒmen yòng Hànyǔ liáo le yíhuìr tiān.
    我们用汉语聊了一会儿天。
    We use Chinese chat -le a-while.
    We chatted in Chinese for a while.

聊 liáo

EXAMPLE SENTENCES

  • Wǒmen biān zǒu biān liáo ba!
    我们边走边聊吧!
    We while walk while chat -ba!
    Let us walk and talk!
  • Wǒ xǐhuan hé fùqīn liáo guānyú rénshēng de huàtí.
    我喜欢和父亲聊关于人生的话题。
