lili laoshi, im having an especially hard time memorizing these characters because theyre so complex. separating them into top and bottom sections help to break them down, but i still dont get why these characters have seemingly unrelated radicals. i also heard from others that some characters might have one radical that points out their pronunciation and one that gives out its meaning. will you touch more on this topic in later lessons? thank you so much!
My Chinese writing may never be that good, and it’s STILL light years better than my English penmanship ever was. I pretty much failed that all the way through school.
I have seen most of these characters in the eight months or so I’ve been studying Mandarin, but these lessons have added to my actual understanding of them immensely.

I assume I could use谢谢您 if I really wanted to be polite.

What would the character 关 mean without the ba radical on top?
天?tian, like heaven or day?
I think it would be tiān = sky 天。
