How do I type in the characters on my computer? Do I need to jump ahead to typing in Chinese and pinyin spelling rules before I finish the quiz?
Yes the links in the quiz for “typing in Chinese” and “Pinyin spelling rules” are highly recommended for beginners.
Well, if you go to keyboard settings and click add input, then you can add a chinese keyboard and you’ll be able to write the pinyin pronunciation and it will supply you with the chinese characters once you hit the space key. To switch back to your english keyboard just press the space key and the control key. (Ctrl)
Can you recommend any books that are good for beginner Chinese reading?
Thanks for the question. Extra reading materials are always good! However it is a little difficult to recommend one especially not all books are available or easy to get in all countries. We might do a review in the future after some more careful research. But generally, as long as the book is suitable for your current level, it should be okay. It might be a good idea to read a few sample pages and decide if you like the content though!
So for 18 and 19 I typed in the correct answer but it came up as incorrect. I put no spaces. So I’m not sure how to correctly enter it. Any help would be great for the future. Thanks!

You have it vice versa in wo jiao and wo xing because your using jiao for 2 charaters.
