Unit 2 Review 2 ▸ In this HSK 1 reading story, we will practice comparing prices in Chinese with a video lesson. We'll learn how to make comments on whether something is expensive or inexpensive in Chinese.
Mǎkě 马可's is comparing prices of coffee in his journal.

Today is Sunday, I'm not at school.
I'm having coffee in my friend's room; he has a coffee maker.
We like drinking coffee a lot. I don't have coffee, (and) want to buy some.
Some coffee (is) too expensive - 500 RMB; some coffee is very cheap - 50 RMB.
Expensive coffee (is) very tasty; cheap coffee (is) not tasty.
I don't have much money; I('ll) buy (the) cheap (kind).

我在朋友的房间喝咖啡,他有一台咖啡机。
我们很喜欢喝咖啡。我没有咖啡,想买些。
有些咖啡太贵了,五百块钱;有些咖啡很便宜,五十块。

All typewritten by me. Just made two mistakes. One was 有些。 I forgot to use 有些 instead of 一些。The other was a simple mistake. I forgot to use 想 in the sentence 想买一些.

I don’t understand the word “you” in “Yǒuxiē kāfēi”? I thought it means ‘to have’?
有 means to have, yes, but 有些 means “some” as a subject.
一些 is “some” as an object, you can’t put 一些 as a subject, need to use 有些。
Chinese is a language driven by context, sometimes characters are used a certain way in one place, and another way in another context.
有咖啡 means “have coffee”
有些咖啡 means “some coffee”
Same 有 but different meaning depending on the context.
